I believe the SND0.AT3 found on the memstick is an ATRAC3plus file. Encoding an ATRAC3 file and calling it SND0.AT3 does the job too. e.g. http://pdc.me.uk/psp/brit_at3/SND0.AT3 :) Edit: forgot to mention, ATRAC3 codec available here: http://www.minidisc.org/atrac3.zip And despite having what is cle...

Probably a watchdog timer. If the watchdog doesn't get touched after a few seconds (ie. the OS is deadlocked) it probably forces a hard shutdown. Inelegant, but not so much so as a reset button. I suspect you are right, rather than it being protection against buffer overflow exploits. I give my PSP...

I wrote something similar to this for my own use only in Perl. Check all 3 regions and provides download links to the latest firmware. If anyone wants, I'll turn it into a website that you can check periodically. Cheers Pikoro http://www.psphacks.net/ Yes indeedy. I expect it will get plenty of hit...

hmm... I swear something odd is going on. Curious as to what could crash the PSP, I took that above-linked image into a hex editor and made some selective, subtle changes. Now I can crash my PSP almost at will :\ The PSP will freeze, rendering all controls dead and in 3-5 secs will power down. The t...

If a certain jpeg crashes the system then id take a look at that as an opportunity rather than a setback. maybe you want to hand that pic over (if its appropriate :P) to another board member with the proper tools to try to figure if this is somekind of overflow. with overflows, the words (arbitrary...

FIFA 2005

I think I'm a little shallow for an RPG... I don't get why they're so popular :^)

I already have RR and Lumines, but I didn't really have much of a choice back in January.

Uhm... what bugs? :) Whether or not you are being serious, I'm not sure! I'll tell you anyway... 1. The JPEG viewer has some issues. Selecting to 'Zoom In' on a JPEG has caused my PSP to freeze, requiring a power-off. The problem could not be reproduced, so it is not a problem with the JPEG itself....

As for Samsung chips in the PSP, they have been in there from the beginning, it just wasn't announced until afterwards. In other words, the PSP memory is a one of Samsung's new multi-chip package memories containing both SDRAM and FLASH. I'm not so sure about this. The article I read seemed to stat...

My videos go in

Code: Select all

D:\MP_ROOT\100MNV01\
And video file names must be in UPPERCASE. e.g. M4V22589.MP4

If the PSP isn't showing the videos then I would recommend you change the 3GP program's encoding settings.
I encoded with a couple of different presets to start with and they didn't work.

Also, it would be nice if the software could be aware of the PSP coming out of standby mode.

For example, Ridge Racers could pause for 3 secs to let you see where you are and FIFA 2005 could use their wonderful roll-in feature.

@pushpin,

that's interesting & it's good to see that developers are minimizing UMD access.

It's a shame Lumines won't save your game if you have been in standby mid-game!! O_o what do you mean with this? why should it save your game ? i don't understand (Lumines automatically saves your progress after every game you play) If you start a Lumines game (e.g. Challenge Mode) and then go into...

Re: Booting the PSP

This make me think of the eventuality to be able to load a firmware file from the memory stick or an UMD disc without the need to get a Wifi internet connection What you guys think ? Sony have said that apps will be bootable from the memory stick. This is how updates and downloadable demos will work.

I think this is common knowledge for PSP owners. Also, when the battery runs out, I believe the PSP puts itself into a permanent 'standby' mode, so you do not lose your game before you get to a power outlet :) I'm basing the guess on the fact that when the PSP has shut down due to low battery, you c...

£86 is pretty steep...

GameChoice.com.hk will mark down the value of the PSP and mark the item as a 'repair'. This is an attractive proposition for the poor amongst us :)
