You could make the game run on a 90 angle, sorta what was done with Arkanoid. That actually would make it a real interesting game :)

A little tidbit, since I ran into problems with Touch. Make sure the directories are not READ-ONLY. Mine were set to read only and gave a whole slew of memory write errors after executing touch.

It isn't lost. We know what is written to the flash during the update process. We have dumps of these firmwares as they are written. That is part of the puzzle. The second part would be to retrace these steps, using what we do know about the PSP's devices(flash0: for example). And see how we can wri...

I tried again today, using the JP 1.52 update SFO incorporated into the JP 1.50 update PBP. Got a similar error as though I used an altered SFO. Apparently the SFO is cross linked into the other files, therefore completely nulling attempt to jerry rig a downgrade without .PSP and .PSAR compilation m...

Got a 1.50 PSP today, tried the Kxploit and it works fine. One qualm I have with it is the fact that the PSP shows the corrupt data and since the exploit includes its own image in the EBOOT.PBP file it creates, its rather annoying trying to find which game is which.(not to mention the corrupt data a...

the logic behind it is that there's a bug in the path parsing somewhere. I could've found this if I tried to experiment more with the paths too :P (I bet it'll work with other characters too) if it is a bug in path parsing, I can't imagine how sony made such an obvious and stupid error(Just can't i...

Not firmware dump. Actual Firmware update. That is the key difference, hence why I thought it might work without making a PSP a fancy paper weight. I do not doubt that it double checks somewhere. I am thinking it checks in Data.PSP. As I said from my speculation before(I wish I could test this). If ...

Downgrading : Experimentation

I have aquired, through alot of searching the original Japanese 1.50 update. I figured that by having this I could simply change the SFO and run the update. Well to no avail. Originally, using this method, I got an error saying that the data was corrupt. Now I assume this was from the faulty SFO. So...

I actually have quite a few dead pixels... I might do just that. If they don't have an exchange available, the nearby store has a refurb PSP for I think 100 bucks. I can ask them to check the system information before I buy it, if its 1.5 I can buy away :) **Added** I just feel so stupid for updatin...

I am gonna try it with a simpler homebrew app and see what happens.(I tried it with the Doom-PSP game). See what happens.

I have been away for a while so I have missed on alot of the 'news' flying about. I figured this would be the best place to ask this. But what exactly is this swaploit? And since people do say that it works, what has been run with it? Does it run an EBOOT.PBP file similar to the on that the MustUpda...

I was attempting(fruitless as of yet) to get a small harddrive adapted from IDE to the memory stick. This was going involve a similar process used to get non duo sticks running on the PSP by the way of an adaptor with a 10 wire plug(which plugs into the mem-stick and then into the PSP). I am not hol...

Think of the SFO as a link, like that on a website to another website. It provides merely a means of accessing one from the other. Nothing more. The SFO holds no keys to running code. While it may or may not be important to the code(it does provide the update needed for the code, the region needed f...

The only back door I bet exists is nestled quietly in some Sony Repair Shop. Not to mention there are only two places to look for the supposed back door:

USB
Remote Control Port

IR port isn't enabled, as far as I know, so I doubt it would use that.

Where have you been? What we need is someone to download the 1.5 firmware(now that 1.51 is released, that might be impossible) and reverse engineer it to find any clues about how to enable the encryption/signing methods that were enabled in the 1.5 firmware. This would be an auxiliary step towards m...

This is what I did after I found out that PBPUnpacker was a packer as well: I edited the SFO file and added in the DATA.PSP file and other files from the Pong Portable game's PBP file into a new PBP file. I got Region Code errors(I originally edited the SFO file that is the '1.5 homebrew launcher')....

No no no... See with mine it just says "Corrupted Data" and wont even run.

If you got the "Must Update" thing then you got further off than I did. Try it again, just turn off the WiFi so it cannot access Sony's sites and update wrongly, if it does.

Well unless I screwed up, it doesn't work on 1.51. I am really hoping that I screwed up, because I'd really like to play some homebrew tetris on here. :(

I'll try tinkering around some more with it.

You have high hopes but its alot harder than you may think. From what I understand you'd need to know C++ to make the browser and then ontop of that, know HTML to create the the translation system, that will take the HTML code and 'translate' it into what the computer can understand.

I do not think it is possible, because first off, modification to the current bios would need to be in place to make it even acknowledge the second one. Well sadly enough the 1.5 hasn't been 'hacked' yet to figure out how to run homebrew. 1.0, which is the original Japanese PSP's version at launch, will run code because Sony left out either purposely or mistakenly the encryption/signing recognition. So until you get a Japanese PSP (I am thinking abo...
