astearon, Yes some people have been able to get a gui interface to work using a native uClinux linux kernel running on the PSP. The main blocker right now is there's no linux WiFi driver for the psp. So even though you can get a gui you'll have to sneakernet all data over. Or possibly use the minius...

Given up on Sourceforge

Ok, I've given up on Sourceforge. Their admins that accept or reject projects are ridiculous. They send me emails asking about the project but the reply email doesn't work. I try to tell them that their email address is not allowing me to respond and they send another email asking that I only respon...

looks like the emulator is a no go...

"nope, we are not emulate any hardware through their mmio addresses and we don't even emulate kernel mode."

Using the emulator to run linuxonpsp won't work. (At least that's what one of the devs said)

Java PSP Emulator

Looks like there's a Java PSP emulator... http://www.jpcsp.org/ Here's a statement from their forums... "Emulation of the 3D graphics hardware is in the early stages. This leaves programs that use the frame buffer directly, such as through pspDebugScreen. In other words a few pspsdk samples wor...

Pending state

Your project is placed in a Pending state until the SourceForge.net staff is able to review and approve your project request. The approval process may take 1 to 3 business days. We'll find out in a couple of days if sourceforge will allow this as a project. My guess is they will I'll update the foru...

Sourceforge would work

Sourceforge would work but I don't think they allow wiki's. (It's been a while since I've used sourceforge). If they do allow Wiki's that might be the way to go. What this project needs is a central hub of information people can go to. Currently there's little bits of info in lots of different place...

Nice work

vijay, I just did research into MiniGUI and you are right. It's definitely the way to go. Unfortunately there's not much user documentation (in English) available on the web. But, the MiniGUI wiki has complete and well written docs explaining it's use. http://www.minigui.org/docs.shtml Nice work get...

Nano-X seems like a logical choice for a Gui once wifi is working.

"Why Wifi, USB is not enough to avoid "sneaker netting" ?"

Yea usb would solve the problem as well. It's just that wifi is more ideal.

This would be sweet if usb worked. :-(

There is a driver!

It looks like there is a driver http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/libertas-dev/2008-April/001459.html But, the information Marvell is providing is not what the libertas-dev want. This is good and bad. At least there's "something" available for a driver to be created with. But, It doesn'...

Getting a gui to work on the psp isn't that hard. There's all kinds of embedded x servers out there that would likely work. But without a network connection (ideally wifi) how much fun would it be? Once a wifi driver is available an X server will be ported. Some X servers might not even need to be p...

Kernel 2.6.22

In Kernel 2.6.22 support for a Marvell Libertas 8388 802.11b/g USB driver was added.

The PSP has a Marvell Libertas 88W8380. The 8380 seems very close in version number to 8388.

Does networking work?

I know there are several people that are very interested in running linux on the PsP. Can you give a specific step by step examples showing exactly how you got this working.
