Dear keepkool: I met your problem many times before I decide to hang on Ubuntu. Yes, the otheros.bld is os-specific. Theoretically, it is a small kernel loaded inside the PS3 system area and will be booted by the Hypervisor, then it switches to its system booting area that resides on the linux parti...

Re: PS3 Linux Partition Clone/Restore

Dear keepkool: To clone a partition was not that difficult. I had done it many times, including cloning my whole partition to another PS3 and boot it successfully. Here is my way: 1. Prepare a Live CD of your system. My system is Gutsy, so I used Gutsy Live CD. 2. Prepare a USB disk, better be large...

Many preparations (locate spe, loading text and data to LS, start execution, arrange communications, stop execution, etc) should be done before you can use the spe. If you are trying to code st...

As you know, too many trojan, virus and worms made the Intel family computers very dangerous to surf the web. My credit card was once hacked on the internet...

Re: Linux performance & distros

In my tests PS3 has no problem attaining the hard drive's maximum transfer rate. Dear jimparis: How to test the drive performance really get my attention. Do you have a tool to do this? Because I don't have such kind of tools, I use Ubuntu Live CD + partimage backup time to estimate its performance...

Re: PS3RSX Binary driver support

Dear Akta77: Thanks for the great jobs!! I have just upgraded my ps3rsx from 1.0-1 to 1.0-3 on my Gutsy, it works great!! Yet the broken lines on the menu bar persist, and these invisible lines also flicker on the Firefox menu. Is it possible to remove these annoying defects in the future? I am usin...
