Quick question: making PBPs

I have been using PBP Unpacker to recreare PBPs from the gametitle% folders so as to customize them with my own icons. I recently updated to 2.71 SE-D and many of my icons are "corrupt". When I use PBPs deployed by homebrew developers there is no problem, so I am assuming that the problem ...

It is certainly possible, but I believe that the DS uses two wireless protocols: one is WiFi and the other is a proprietary Nintendo protocol that is used in DS-DS connections. I am going to guess that the proprietary protocol will be used in standard DS-Wii connections as well. If this is true, the...

Best Encoding Settings?

Can someone please post the overall "best" encoding settings so far? By "best", I mean something that looks nice, but doesn't take too long (something around 2 passes, perhaps), and can be used to fit 2 hours of footage on a 1GB stick.

Thanks.

Nice MS benchmarks! What I would like to see is a comparison between a SanDisk 1GB PRO Duo (what I have) versus the SanDisk Ultra II (more expensive) PRO Duo. I wonder if the Ultra II is really faster. Also, the main difference in speeds seems to come from the fact that some sticks are PRO and other...

Jonny:
FFMPEG did work, but it seems odd that Goldwave/BeSweet encoded files give me errors. I have been encoding them to 44.100 kHz @ 128 kbps (stereo) and I get errors, so low bitrate may not be the problem. I've had problems with two different source files BTW.

I'm having a little trouble with audio. I had an mkv file, so I demuxed it to avi and aac. I XviD'D the avi with virtual dub, but the aac is killing me. I converted the aac to wav using QuickTime 7 pro, then converted the wav to mp3 44100Hz 64kbps stereo using Goldwave. The mp3 sounds fine when I pl...

I don't think that a PSP JVM is in the works, and our best bet is an official one from Sony. However, I believe that it does cost money to license a JVM, and knowing Sony, the only reason why they would shell out money is either to make more, or to cut losses. Ironically, by promoting piracy, we for...

Awesome job!!!!! Only two complaints: The muxer GUI. I could code a nice GUI for you if you want to give me the PMP container specs (I briefly looked through source for 30 seconds, gave up for tonight) :). Needing to demux audio. It'd be cool if the audio and video could be demuxed in the program au...

Is there anyway to program for the PSP using Java?

I haven't seen any way to do this, but seeing as how Java is the only language I know, is there away to do this? I don't want to go installing cygwin and the PSP toolchain and all that if it's not going to help me in the end, so an answer would be appreciated. If Java is not an option, how different...

Requests?

Only post the top 3-5 newest apps on the front page.
Keep updates to a program all organized (SNES y1, y2 ... y20, y21) all in one folder.

If your site is well organized, I'll definitely use it instead of psphacker/updates

Doesn't matter what background you use, I got the same result.
And you have to reload the month to get rid of a white screen sometimes - choose July, choose it again, keep doing that and you will get white - background -white - background, even in 1.50.

There are a few problems with this idea. One is the system requirements - it does a lot of stuff in software, by the looks of it, and consequently requires a 1.3Ghz chip minimum. The PSP just doesn't have enough grunt for that. Another problem is that this would require a USB Host device, and the P...

Another hypothesis: one reason the 1.52 update is smaller than the 1.51 is because there is no screen telling you what you're getting. All it says is 1.52 Update and then Start. I haven't installed it on my PSP, so perhaps there is the "this is what's inside" screen later on, but if they r...

It wouldn't annoy many. Those that have 1.5+ anyway would install it, and those with 1.00 would make a homebrew browser eventually. Sony just needs to allow homebrew.

Odd. North American PSPs already have UMD music functionality, do they not? On the sampler disc that came with the PSP, it had a UMD icon under each of Music, Video and Game... I believe the same was for JP PSP's as well. EDIT: The update allows you to play music in the XMB, similar to playing musi...

Weird "smudge" in XMB....

I woke my PSP out of sleep mode and saw a mark on the screen. It wasn't dirt, and it wasn't a group of bad pixels because when I moved the XMB up and down, the smudge moved too. Well seeing as how the SFO MUST PERFECTLY match something in either the PSP or PSAR files or both, this might work....

*note on the sensitivity of sfo files: I edited the one from the 1.51 update so it said the parental level was 2, re-packaged it, ran it on a 1.50 PSP, got an error.

Exactly. A UMD can choose to have a self-boot sequence or not. It's just that Sony requires(?) that games have that self-boot data in them. Take out that data, and no self-boot.

How would FIRMWARE affect the insides of the software, unless it specifically killed the WiFi connection, etc...?? And it's not an extra 14MB, it's 700KB more.

Still, that seems a lot for just "security".

Overflow Memory with Network Update??

When you download an update with the Network Update function, it doesn't write the file to the memory stick until the very end. For example, if you start a Network Update, rip the MS out ater it has started downloading (I did this when it was at 0%), all you get is a file that says "Corrupted D...
