Cant the psp pull images off a digital camera that is connected to it, so it must act as some sort of host.... Right? No, it can't "pull off" images from your digicam... but the Photos feature on your PSP is set to look for pictures in the default folder created on MS media by Sony Digica...

It'd be nice to find one of these USB OTG (on-the-go) devices that could really serve as a USB host intermediary so you COULD go MS to USB hard drive on the PSP... but all of them so far just have some sort of "Copy" mode that must be user initiated with a switch. :P
