Signaling rate, SPU and memory cards
Hi. Just want to make clear for myself couple details about Ps2's hardware. Does anyone know signaling rate of iLink? I'm pretty sure that Sony wouldn't use max rate (which 400 Mbps (for 1394a)), so it's only one hundred. Am I right? Er..Ofcourse I regret for asking this, but..."Jedi's gotta do...

Cell (PS3 related) for doomies
Hi. As far as I understand (it's not far, really) many peoples already begin to think about development for PS3. If so, then some of you, noble members of ps2dev society, have seen doc's dedicated to PS3 architecture. So, my question is: what can/should I consider as CPU (as equivalent in PC-archite...

Hdd related questions
It's stupid enough, but can't find reliable info about manufacturer of PS2 HDD. And then there is rumor that Sony re-labels Maxtor's model. Can someone prove/disprove it? It seems doubtful to me that Sony is "personnaly" making HDD's. Does anyone know some facts about file system of PS2? E...

Don:t know how to answer that question, I haven't figured out how to make that part work yet, but I am curious why it matters so much ? Are you going to use it to burn alot of DVDs from recorded HDD material ? Thanks for reply. 24x dubbing speed seem's to me like unreliable, doubtful, impossible. S...

Speed of the DVD drive in PSX (DESR-7x00/5x00)
Hello, people. I really hope that someone knows about subj. You see, in "specs" (personnaly I wouldn't call it that way ;) ) on Sony's site mentioned about 24x (as I understand it's about transferring data between HDD and DVD). So what is this??? Is it like on PS2, measured relatively CD? ...

PS2 Hardware evolution
Hi. I'm looking for information about changes in PS2 hardware. For example, on some sites you can find info like that - "CPU-part in first models of PS2 was TOO powerful, too fast. In later modifications it was SLOWED down". Is it true? Does anyone know resources dedicated to hardware chan...
