even more obvious than that is the fact that even after 10 years sony is still vulnerable by swapping something really fast. I wonder if this is some result from faulty securtity-check preconceptions.

strange, so far I've seen three PSPs and ZERO dead pixels.
However the third one had a fracture between the backgroundlighning and the actual LCDs. this tiny fissure resulted in a visible red line. I took a look with an eyepiece and it was no damage to the exterior casing or any dead pixel.

a german professional IT mag (called c't) with a knack for toys tested the response time of the psp and measured that it takes the display 100ms to switch from total black to total white. this is of course very bad, BUT it is less visible than it sounds PLUS if you lower the response time you have t...

The file name in windows will be MV4XXXX.mp4. the name the PSP displays will be the one the file had when you draged&droped it into the 3gp window for transcoding, so far nobody has come up with a "renaming tool". it doesn't seem to be a priority but if your apt with the hex editor you...

If you are worried about battery life you should examine your gaming behaviour first. but let's cut that zynic crap and get to the point, either sony asists in the dev community or it wil get ugly trying to get code running on this thing. It's not just the UMD issues here, there is also major memory...

any console able to run backups, whatever you might think of them, is wide open for homebrew. I don't want to see the PSP be turned into a Chinese bootleg machine, but the technology and money involved will make it attractive. and somewhere along this line is the entry point for executing unsigned c...

Truth about UMD

Found out today. UMD can have two layers. data density is equal to DVD, no wonder since same laser wavelenghth is in use. but since an UMD is smaller only 1,8 GB will fit onto it [do your own math] Encryption is 128-Bit-AES-Key. [so for the Memory stick it's probably the same] You can license UMD to...

we know that bios space is scarce, so an inbuilt flasher programm would not be a necessity if you could run code from stick or drive. sony starting a "service" where you can send your deadflashed psp in and have it repaired at some costs tells me one thing: they wouldn't do it if they had ...

If you took a close look at the picture I posted earlier you would see that there is a difference between the layer which contains the information and the layer that reflects the beam. one is still 100% reflective (but only for the laser wavelength) the other is roughly semi reflective. the layer wh...

if it had a second layer the "surface that could be written to" would increase to 44cm². since it would be two thin layers of 22 cm² above each other. according to sony 1.8 Gig is maximum size. but suddenly with a two layer 1.8 setup, the density would not be that different from a regular ...

From human standpiont a dual layer dvd has twice the data desity of a single layer. because we humans see only the disc and the fact that the ammount of data has doubled: X= Ammount of data Y= Space Z= density human Point of View: 2X/Y=2Z mc can only see the disc, the amount of data and thus calcula...

Just because Sony releases something in "Europe" does not mean it is widely available. Take the release of the PS2 in your country in relation to France or Germany as a point of reference whether the PSP will be available on the european launch date or not.

Yes, but since the layers occupy the same 2D space, the density of the disc, expressed as bits per cm², becomes doubled. NO, two layers of a disc do not occupie the same space. Pieces of paper do not magically disappear when stacked [If only] just because you can't see them with the eye does not me...

It is based on a 4.7GB DVD-R. Dual layer does not increase density itself, it "merely" creates multiple layers with same density [double the surface so to speak]. I also supposed the 1.8GB to be single layer. But it is well in the realms of the possible that games like lumnies are single l...

Measure the total surface of a dvd (only the part where you can write, not the border or the hole in the middle.) you'll find that a DVD stores roughly 42MB per square centimeter. Take the same measurement on a UMD (you know the surface, you know the ammount of data it packs, so hence you calculate ...

Theory No1. Minimize the ammount by which you have to stretch the picture in each dimension to maximize the sharpness Result: 368x208 for 16:9 Source Additional Perk: no visible distortion since this is almost 16:9 But just to be sure I calculated all variables with exel, so it is not just subjectiv...
