A very Stupid Question

Post by {2}rIng »

Here.

I know this is probably very obvious, but i just need to know directly.

Is ps2dev illegal?Or does it matter how u use it?

I read somewhere all you need is a license from Sony, how much do those guys hack on us to pay for this, and is it worth it?

And if i do hack my ps2, and later become legal, will they let me? (they probaly wont, however,if someone hacked my software, and came back good, i wouldnt kill them, but we must remeber this is Sony...)
Thats all

As long as you're not infringing copyright law by:

-) Publishing copyrighted material extracted part or whole from your hacking work (such as the bios of the ps2, or game's data)
-) Creating a device (software or hardware) that circumvents sony's copy protection

you're doing legal stuff. You buy the hardware, you buy the software, you're trying to understand how it works by reversing stuff, and you write your own software. Fair use, and that's what all cheating companies such as Datel did to create their unlicensed cheating softwares.
