Not really anything to do with PS2, but I have a Modded PSone (the small version) and was wondering if its even possible to decode MP3's on the PS1 hardware, maybe there is already software made by someone?

Funny but some of us were just talking about that in another thread. You MIGHT be able to decode ogg on the PS1, but not mp3. I've seen an mp3 decoder for the PS1 which decoded the mp3 into ram (as much as woudl fit) and THEN play it, but real-time mp3 is too much for the cpu. Remember that the CPU in the PS1 is a 33MHz MIPS 3000, about the same power as a 40MHz 486SX. You also only have 2M of ram. If you recoded the mp3 decoder by hand into super-optimized assembly language, you MIGHT be able to decode low-bitrate mp3s in real-time, but I don't see anyone putting that much effort into it.
