My psp is dead

my daughter powered off her psp during an game update when it said "don't power off unit"
It is now dead. Light comes on for a few secs and then powers off.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well of the course the constructive comment is you send it back to Sony, still this is of course a dev forum and not a customer support forum, so yes you are fucked :)

If it is not a TA-082, you can use the UP mod-chip for the PSP to un-brick a PSP. Other than that, if your PSP is not under warranty, there are people who advertise on PSP sites who will un-brick your PSP for a fee (usually $75-$100).

That's about all the help you'll get here... this is just a development page.

Lets put this in plain ole english as im not sure this guy knows what he is talking about :P


First of all take your PSP back to the retailer and get a new one.

Downgrade to firmware 1.50 by hacks
upgrade to 3.10 OE (unofficial software) if you play homebrew and w/e

correct me if im wrong but i tought theres a UP for TA-082?

correct me if im wrong but i tought theres a UP for TA-082?
There's a new mod-chip coming out that is supposed to be compatible with the TA-082/86, but as far as I know, it's not out yet.
