mrbrowns tge linux....

Post by tightflks »

This linux he is making, will it need a seperate memory card likeps2 linux? I bought ps2 linux from a friend (his hdd broke) and i saw i needed a memory card just for ps2 linux. Will this be the same for the TGE?

PS2 Linux only needs a blank (if it isn't blank it will automatically format it) memory card for installation. Once the Linux kernel is installed to the memory card, you can save game saves to the card just like any other memory card - it's in the same format as all other memory cards.

I would anticipate that a TGE-based bootloader would also allow you to boot Linux off of the memory card, but it won't have to reformat the card to install Linux. But, that's a feature of the installer, Sony's Linux installer is 100% Linux and it has the RTE "BWLINUX" prefix so they were a bit limited with how to install Linux onto the card. Any installer written for TGE wouldn't need to be so limited :).

I hope this somewhat answers your question.
