serial ee cable component - the caps, is there an alt.?

Post by cory1492 »

OK, it will probably be less of a headache to stumble on over to RadioShack and pick up a few monolithic 104's, but I have some dead ps2's and other electronic components to salvage from here and would wrather use an electrolytic component (my meter reads these accurately so I can tell their actual capacitance).

My problem - are there some SMT caps that would work from a dead ps2's board (v4 & v9 already scavenged from) with the EE cable from MrBrowns site? ie - is there an alternative I could use? Elec. caps perchance?

I have both max 3323EEPE pdips and 3322EEUP SMT so SMT vs regular components should not be an issue, I will go either way.

Im sure the info is out there, but I have not been able to find it - and I have spent quite a while looking, just short of what Im sure an intro to SMT device course would have taken - but with less knowledge in return...

Take anything you want, it only has to be 100nF, that's all.

The one I was quoting was a misquote of that from a tv show.. but hey, works for me

Thanks Pixel, I wasnt entirely sure why monolythics were used and if they could be substituted with electrolytic smt's (which I can grab off an old ps2 easily enough)
