Problem with tutorial

Hi,

Just starting out and feeling really useless. When I try to make binutils (as per "Windows EE GCC 3.2.2" it appears not to be working and the only error type message I can come up with is "cygpath: can't convert an empty path" occurring starting from /bfd onwards. I am doing this under cygwin shell and the only variation I can see is that I have just reinstalled all the cygwin and so have likely got more up to date versions then those listed. Is this likely to be causing the problems? I have tried to trace the orgin and have found it is referred to in the .obj.c compile settings but don't know enough to fix this and guess it is coming from the configure.

In configure the only annomoly I can see is that it gives a message about /usr/bin/nm output.....unexpected redirection egrep err or something of this nature. Anyone else hit this or is it just I'm particularly stupid.

Thanks for any help available.

BTW The eventual goal of my trying to get involved in this is I would like to update the mame version on the PS2 so that I can take advantage of the later updates to MAME. Is anyone else doing this. Is there an easier way by perhaps getting the PS2 to boot up off a linux disc and then running xMame directly? I don't want to reinvent the wheel if I can do other stuff but there's a lot of Arcade games that I wouldn't mind having on my PS2 and some of the ones I can play would be better with two+ players

I recomend you to download binary version of the toolchain. You can find it in the "tools" section.
