another ps2link memory card question
another ps2link memory card question
Ok i have spent the last 4 hours on this, I am familiar with the independence exploit but can figure out how to install ps2link, the one time i got something going was some iso i downloaded from Mr. Brown's or something and while booting ps2link said something like "ps2 lid not something" but i need step by step instructions like how to compile the cd, how to set up the ipconfig file, and the whole thing, i have checked other threads and they have tid bits but not the whole thing.

Um... unless I'm mistaken the last official release of ps2link is crap to setup with ps2ind. It tries to use dms3 bootmode when it's on the MC unless it's in mc0:/PS2LINK/, which can be a hassle to setup for a lot of people. CVS works good I think though.blackdroid wrote:why not just put the ps2link on the mc since you are familiar with ps2ind ?
For what it matters, as soon as I unlazy myself enough to rehookup my ps2dev setup and put the small bit of effort into it, I'll post some npo and xpo files of ps2link w/ps2-ind ready to use (other than changing IP info).
... on that note, anyone want to write a real quick app for changing the IP settings on the PS2?

I'm not sure where you got that from. The last official release of ps2link works fine as BOOT.ELF. IIRC, adresd re-released it just to fix that issue.Drakonite wrote:Um... unless I'm mistaken the last official release of ps2link is crap to setup with ps2ind. The only release I can remember adresd making to fix it was a hack that hardcoded it to always read the IRX from same spot instead of checking anything. I didn't think that got up as the main release...mrbrown wrote:I'm not sure where you got that from. The last official release of ps2link works fine as BOOT.ELF. But then again, I've been using cvs stuff I built myself for so long it's hard to keep track ;) I guess I'm probably wrong then. I just remember being told they wouldn't do a release to fix that problem (and a couple other ones) until something else was working, which still wasn't working last time I grabbed cvs IIRC.

Ok now i got it installed and set up the ipconfig.dat (though i don't know how to get my ps2 ip), now when ps2link loads i get this error "Could not load module mc8:/Badata-system/IOMANX.IPX: -201" i have the IOMAN.IRX but don't see any IPX version of it.
InLink also gives the error when starting "Componenet "mswinsck.ocs" or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

dunno where you dl ps2link but here goes www.thethirdcreation.net/tools/ps2link-v1.23.zip
as for inlink I dunno, read the readme carefully, you need x version first, cause latest version is just a patch to a base install.

If I understand your question well, you don't know how to setup the ip address of the ps2 network adapter. If this is your question then modify the ipconfig.dat file and store it on the memory card - here are the ip setting of the network adapter. So basicly You must know (decide or create) the ip number because only You know your LAN settings. Finally you can test wether your connection works by pinging to the ps2 ip from your computer (ps2link must be running).
As for my ps2link instalation I just copied all content of the ps2link to the BXDATA-SYSTEM directory, made new copy of the BOOT.ELF (copy of the ps2link.elf) and that was it. No magic procedure.

Remember that IP addresses of the form 192.168.n.m are reserved for people to use as internal network addresses. YOU get decide what machine gets which address with the exception of 192.168.n.0, which stands for the network itself, and 192.168.n.255, which stands for everybody on that network.
So you can decide that you wish for your PC to be 192.168.0.1 and that the PS2 will be 192.168.0.2. They don't HAVE to be that - you can make them anything given the above two restrictions. For example, you could just as well make them 192.168.47.171 and 192.168.47.99.
The IP addresses that come in the data file supplied uses the addresses 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.10 for the PC and PS2 respectively. They are fine and you can leave them. Just remember that if you add another computer to the network (I have a Mac on mine) to make it different from those two addresses. My Mac is 192.168.0.100.
