Where can I obtain a PAL Demo Disk?

In that case I believe I need the NTSC disk. I'm not quite sure I understand exactly what is meant by 'demo disk.' Could you elaborate?

A demo disc usually contains demonstrations of software with the purpose of enticing you to purchase the full version at a set price.

what do you need it for? if you're following the old 'how to get started' thread on ps2dev.org, IMHO that's mostly obsolete information.
