ok ive been having ALOT of trouble with installing the ps2 toolchain and ive just about ready to give up! ive tried cygwin many times but i keep getting errors

ERROR PATCHING BINUTILS
ive also just tried knoppix a live version of linux today which just didnt work either i mounted my drives and everything but o luck does anyone have any suggestion/help

1) Be sure to grab the latest toolchain script either from my website at http://www.oopo.net/consoledev or the svn repository. The included README.TXT file contains instructions.

2) Make sure you're using the latest version of cygwin and the related tools it installs. I'm currently running patch 2.5.9, you can find out which version you're running by typing 'patch -v'.

3) Take a look at the wiki instructions for the psptoolchain at http://wiki.pspdev.org/psp:programming_faq - specifically the cygwin section. Most or all of it should apply here as well.

thanks il try that now!! the one error it reports at the start is it cannot find gmake which i think is GNUmake but i cant find where to get it from. With knoppix it allways tells me it cant find svn and gmake aswell. il edit if i run into anymore problems.
*edit**sigh*
ok i downloaded all the patch files and the toolchoan shells again, downloaded all the devel and wget and all other commands i need (apart from gmake) again and ran the script again. this time i got this error in cygwin:

ive now got knoppix installed onto my hdd and making progress but i cannot find the commands SVN and GMAKE im searching through kpackage now to try and find SVN, what is its actuall package name? and what is gmakes package name?

SVN is short for Subversion and gmake is short for GNU Make.

couldnt find GMAKE but i exploered line 68 where the error was and it asks if gmake is there if not then i will use make. but i got everything to build correctly!!
i have tried to MAKE the sample 'hello' but have an error

Once finished, you need to add the following to your login settings:

## PS2DEV SETTINGS
export PS2DEV="/usr/local/ps2dev"
export PS2SDK="$PS2DEV/ps2sdk"
export PATH="$PATH:$PS2DEV/bin:$PS2DEV/ee/bin:$PS2DEV/iop/bin:$PS2DEV/dvp/bin:$PS2SDK/bin"

Then you're done!
Did you forget this step from the readme.txt?

no i did that! it got compile what i do after it makes the hello.o(object) and hello.erl files?

*ive been googling for ages cant work out what to do next please someone help asap

I'm actually having the same question... what exactly is the difference between a .erl and a .elf file?

If you want a final .elf file output, you should modify your Makefile to be EE_BIN's, instead of EE_ERL's and your erl to an elf.

But hey, I just now realized how old this topic was and how unlikely my help will be used.
