What is the orange component that you are supposed to use as solder point X on the V4 installation of a dms4 s.e. chip? And what does it do?Install Diagram

Was a bit unlucky and lost the component. Anyone know what goes on at that point? Getting disc read errors on my ps2 without it. Could this be the reason?
