Error loading cdvd.irx with any v. ps2mnu

Hi guys, this is my first post, but I have a small problem with any version ps2mnu. I used to be able to load my elfs fine with it, with no problem. But one day I was messing around with my mem card through ftp, and after that, I was not able to even start ps2mnu. It loads all the irx's, and gets stuck at cdvd.irx. The hdd makes a rhythmic noise, like it's being accessed, but it doesn't get passed that point at all. Before, it would just load immediately afterwards. Can anyone explain what is going on when ps2mnu is loading the cdvd.irx and what I can check to make sure it has everything it needs to continue loading? Thanks alot for any help.

BTW, I have a v7 ps2 with dms3 chip, a 3rd party hdd, and access to the mem card thru ftp.

More info: I've deleted and reinstalled ps2mnu to the mem card. Same error. Same thing occurs when I install ps2mnu to the hdd and run it from there (which is how I used to do it) And all games/progs boot perfectly from the hdd, so I doubt it's a hdd error...
