Nothing works on a US PSP because they all have version 1.50 firmware or higher. You have to get a 1.0 firmware PSP from Japan.

Moved to PSP General.

Very tempting to move it to the hall of shame, actually.

There is no such thing as a "UK PSP". The PSP is not going to be released in the UK until at least September, maybe even later if the current allegations of shortages are true. People in this forum are hopeful that homebrew software can be made to work with the 1.50/1.51 firmware currently in existence on US PSPs, however no such breakthrough has been made yet.

I'm from the UK, and I know that the announced release date is the 1st September. I also know that there's been a recent news story stating that Sony has run out of PSPs and is not ready to start selling in Europe. This makes me think that it's possible the date may get pushed back. I'm not really bothered, since I already imported a PSP, but I feel sad for all the other Europeans who either can't or won't import one. It's a shame that Sony has decided to treat us so shabbily.

Shabbily ? You just said yourself that Sony has troubles making enough. Sounds like a good reason to not make a release until they have enough so that they don't run out in 30 minutes :) It would be inexcusable to make a release if they don't have a decent enuf supply, no ? :)

Ah, I failed to mention that I was referring to the earlier postponement fiasco, where they postponed the European launch (as it turned out, to September) because they wanted to have 1 million units for the US launch, but they ended up selling only 600k. Many people (including myself) were extremely annoyed at this apparently unnecessary postponement. I concede that now there actually allegedly IS a shortage then a delay is warranted, but since there is already a general feeling of negativity towards SCEE this delay will only make things worse.
