PSP Emulator

Hi I am a n00b to PSP software-making...I just want to know how I can test my programs on the computer? I have the PSPe emulator but it doesn't work with ANY homebrew programs I have. I can get to the menu with SOME programs but most of the time it just crashes as soon as I click it, sometimes it crashes after I hit enter at the menu though.

What am I doing wrong? Does this work for anyone else?
