I tried loading in an image at about 1MB for testing and crashed the PSP.
Is there just a limit on file sizes someplace in libpng? Or would this be an individual limitation within my graphics engine?

check your input image buffer
make sure its capable of holding
your 1MB png image....as a side note
png is very very bloaty and tga image
is more recommended ..at least bmp
is sufficient
