Turn PSP into a PC monitor with USB
Turn PSP into a PC monitor with USB
Hi i wanted to know if there is a way to make the PSP show a PC´S monitor with the usb or wifi? (i know that there is the VNC but its not exactly what i want) like a clone image or an extension of the monitor. and with the exact resolution of the PSP screen or maybe a resize.. and with good FPS and so you can also see games and everything (like a normal monitor)
I want this cuz i am mounting a pc on my car and instead of buying a screen i thoght i could use the psp as a screen i could plug in to use in the car with a usb and later take with me..
THANKS!!!

Mhhh.....don't really know of an application doing this...i could be wrong, but i guess vlc is the most you can get without getting dirty with code... i could say you that you can write a program for the psp and a windows driver to export stills of your desktop to PSP, something like psplink but reversed...well, i think this is not what you wanted to hear...try to setup vlc or give up. Maybe in future someone will code this.... Good luck
yea thats exacly what i was thinking about.. to do a psplink but backwords... well i dont have any programing knowlage (i wish i did and im going to start studing next year) if there was someone kind enought to do this for me :) im pretty sure it would be usefull to many people hehe... o well thanx anyways
That would be FAR from easy and I doubt that anyone would do it very soon - of course it's possible, but it will require a lot of programming skills and windows driver knowledge.nicotrial wrote:yea thats exacly what i was thinking about.. to do a psplink but backwords... well i dont have any programing knowlage (i wish i did and im going to start studing next year) if there was someone kind enought to do this for me :) im pretty sure it would be usefull to many people hehe... o well thanx anyways

well at least i know its posible and that some day maybe somene somewhere will make this program and that the idea is out maybe someone will get interested in doing this... if not then everyone will have to wait till i learn to program and make it and while in the proces ill be making milions of noob questions in this forum :D
(so you guys know where my level is at, all i ever did in programing was a crapy calculater in c++)
need a scriptable program on PC.
A program who can read script in lua or other, like lcd's logitech g15 and send info via USB or Wifi to PSP.
So you can try to make PSP-G15, with plug-in for:
- teamspeak
- show CPU/Temp/HD etc...
- game info ? (Life, Mana, bullets, Score, money...)
- music/movie info or sub
- and many other...
I have an idea, for a similar project, since two yers. I would like to make it in futur but i'm really busy atm ...
Maybe you can try to contact darksaboteur on QJ ?

awww come on its not only for me its for everyone... id do it myself or try to help though i have no idea.. im trying to learn programing iv been reading many tutorials.. im actualy understanding how everything works though im not at a level to be abel to program anything like this... i just thought it would be a good program if someone could do it and would also be very usefull to me and maybe to many other people...It's not that difficult, i already wrote something like requested software...but i'm not gonna write a single line of code since this site is not "Do this for me" service.
well i cant make you write or post up anything since its your code you can do whatever you want with it just saying that i never indended for you to think that its a "do this for me service".. just i came up with an idea for a program and shared my idea..
And like alree is also expanding the idea to not only show a screen but also game info chat in games or maybe like the mirrors on car simulators, night vision googles (wow i got a grate idea for this also using the Freetrack program to pick up movment) or maybe if it works with wifii to mount your wireless monitor to make a vrheadset.. and maybee other ideas that other people have
i dont know think about it... it wont only be for me.. at least its what i think

what helpful post...jean wrote:It's not that difficult, i already wrote something like requested software...but i'm not gonna write a single line of code since this site is not "Do this for me" service.

you can only give some url or tips to nicotrial and he could begin this "challenge" ...
We're all noob and "help" is a good rule in a community
I would have never begin to write here if i couldn't program well on my own, because -in a community- i would never ask something if i cannot give something else as a payback; and i cannot learn to play basket playing against Michael Jordan. I'm only a noob of PSP stuff if i am at all. You cannot go in the office of your favourite programmer and say "Well mark, can you put a doThis button in your next program?" I don't mean to be unpleasant, but i don't think nicotrial is going to program something like this if he/she can't find it ready, and i guess we'll never see it again if he/she gets what he wants (too easy speaking about "community"...). I don't know from where to start explaining how a software like this should work to someone that's beginning. The only thing i can do for you is post an already made windows program that captures an image each 1/30sec, resize it and prepares it to be sent over your favourite media - IF and AS SOON AS i get some free time. Maybe someone will be so cute to code the transmit-over-USB part and someone else the show-on-PSP part. Or maybe not; in the case, will you say everyone in this community is evil because they don't do what you want?Alree wrote: what helpful post...

Precisely. I can't say I fully agree with how many of the PS2DEV forum members react to noobs, but I understand why they do it.jean wrote:You cannot go in the office of your favourite programmer and say "Well mark, can you put a doThis button in your next program?" This is a forum where people post when they already know how to program in C, before trying to program on the PSP. Not where noobs request applications. I very much doubt that nicotrial can code in C.
Well, I know it's ugly, but there used to be a LUA app, which basically polled an image saved by the computer using nethostfs/usbhostfs, simply reading and showing the image over and over again.jean wrote:The only thing i can do for you is post an already made windows program that captures an image each 1/30sec, resize it and prepares it to be sent over your favourite media - IF and AS SOON AS i get some free time. Unfortunately, many people do misunderstand the purpose of these forums :(jean wrote:Or maybe not; in the case, will you say everyone in this community is evil because they don't do what you want?

Pfft, that would also eliminate me ;)J.F. wrote:The captcha for registering needs to be a bunch of development questions. That kills two birds with one stone - eliminates bots and noobies just out to request apps both at the same time. :Dcloudhunter wrote: Unfortunately, many people do misunderstand the purpose of these forums :(

i dont get you guys.. so what,, i dont know hot to code in c im just starting to learn and i realy envy you guys... and whats so bad about posting an idea..?? isnt an IDEA part of a development process??

Not when the idea is not about the project you're working on. The development process, as you call it, is solving the problems that occur while working on an appointed task. Calls to work on a NEW task are not part of that process.nicotrial wrote:i dont get you guys.. so what,, i dont know hot to code in c im just starting to learn and i realy envy you guys... and whats so bad about posting an idea..?? isnt an IDEA part of a development process??
That's why you spent at least a couple posts begging for someone to work on it, and even phrased it as a challenge in large, colored text. Sorry, that is also not part of the development process. If you're serious about a project, there's a Help Wanted forum where you can post requests for help along with how you plan to compensate anyone working on said project. Whining about people not jumping at the opportunity to waste their time on your "idea" is not appropriate for this forum.like i said im not obligating anyone to program anything..

dont you se the "hehehe" at the end and what i wrote on the bottom??? i was trying to be funny but i see you dont have a sence of humer...
its like im attacking people here...
whatever close the tread for what i care...
bearly anyone gives a -- anyways
what a nice welcome!!!
Don't take it so hard...you're only in the wrong place. If everyone behaved like you -and all people like us were condescending-, PSP scene could not exist at all. Stop. Now that you've launched your "idea", sit back and watch if someone realizes it. OR you could go elsewhere and start learning c. Don't try to turn the world inside out, this is the way it is.
Jean, stop being such a hard ass, you sound like a twelve year old.. You guys always start arguments and don't stop to think that someone has an idea. This guy envys you all for knowing more than him however we should treat him as a dev because he has tried to contribute as a way. This is why people leave and never return to this scene as other people treat them rotten..... Then again the noobs are worse.jean wrote:Don't take it so hard...you're only in the wrong place. Take this as advice, but don't take it to heart. I know you all have potential to be professional. Be professional and you guys might get somewhere :)
Uff...let me be an "hard ass"....when i first posted here i carried tons of s**t, because of all thinking of me as a noob, a child, someone who knows nothing about computers or programming, even if i was saying reasonable things. Let ME have fun now! :) just kidding. Even if i am so rigid, for what i see i'm the only one helping...i repeat: when i have time i'll fix an old program of mine doing an half of the work. That's all i can do for now.
Contributing an "idea" for a project does not make one a developer. If the idea had related to the solution of a specific problem inside a project, then it MIGHT count. Someone who just tosses out an idea with a challenge is not going to be treated as anything other than a noob.Wally4000 wrote:This guy envys you all for knowing more than him however we should treat him as a dev because he has tried to contribute as a way.
If they want to be part of "the scene", they should be on PSX-Scene (or similar site). This is a development site where real devs try to get real work done. This is why people leave and never return to this scene as other people treat them rotten..... Then again the noobs are worse.
I hope that's not aimed at us. We ARE being professional, which is why we don't take well to noobs. If we were all in a building instead of this forum, these people coming into our meetings and challenging us with "ideas" would find themselves "escorted" from the building by security.Take this as advice, but don't take it to heart. We tend to be a little more loose around here since it may take a while for some folks to figure out the unwritten rules here. They either quietly fade away as they realize they want to be at MaxConsole instead, or they get into the swing of things and start making comments on code or asking for help on their own coding.
A scant few try arguing, thinking that they can somehow convert this site into something more like PSX-Scene or MaxConsole - and that ain't gonna happen. 8)
nice to see there is kind people here thanks guys
and thanks wally4000 for supporting me "sniff sniff"
like someone said i guess ill just sit back and see what comes out of this.. and help out in whatever a can..
so enough
if no one is interested it will just desapear to the bottom of the forum by itself..

yea dont worry i would of done the same too to another noob so its just a natural thing.. survivel of the strongest or somthing like that hehehe.. and yea you might of been hard but like you said your realy one of the only people that actualy helped.. thanx broUff...let me be an "hard ass"....when i first posted here i carried tons of s**t, because of all thinking of me as a noob, a child, someone who knows nothing about computers or programming, even if i was saying reasonable things. It's not that there's no interest, it's just that we all have other things we're working on, which leaves little time for a project of this size. What you want is a pretty significant project, not just for the PSP, but the PC side as well. You need either a driver for a fake video card or some background task the periodically dumps the primary surface of an existing video card, a background task to transfer it to the PSP, another the receive PSP input events, and a fake USB device driver to make the PSP inputs affect the PC. That requires someone with significant knowledge of the Windows DDK, and the time and willingness to make at least one, and possibly two low-level Windows drivers, and an application to handle the transfers to and from the PSP. Then you need someone to make a PSP application that sends inputs across wifi or USB to the PC, and accepts video (and maybe sound) from the PC over wifi or USB. It's the sort of thing you'd have a team working on for a year or two.
I myself am no developper, but I follow the homebrew scene anyway because i'm amased of what can be done.
I've been here long enough and seen all kind of request, put in all kind of form but you must be a little bold to say that you find most of the homebrew useless. You should really look around before critisizing...
And for your info, since you request will probably not be processed, play with pspVNC, you should be able to see you pc screen on you psp without any problem.
That only a solution, I am posting this only because I think that the least thing a lazy noob should do i some research before posting in a serious forum like pspdev.
cheers.

later... ohh and i already started programing a few programs for the psp but nothing realy usefull.. though ill be sharing and listening to ideas not like others around here...
ohh and if the programer of PSPdisp is in this forum i would of loved too help out.. so this way i can learn more aboute programing (couse its also what i am studing at the university - this is my first year in telecom engeneer-)
