PS3VRAM locked in newer PS3 Models?

Post by speedxl »

It seems that on 80GB PS3 (Model Number 98015 and later) and the 160GB PS3 (Model Number 900006 and later) you cannot boot the system if you have the PS3VRAM enabled at least on YDL 6.1

What changes in the hardware could cause this?

That's not what the fixstars site says -- it says that you need a new kernel to boot on the new systems, and that their old version of ps3vram doesn't work with that new kernel.

There should be no problems with a new kernel and new ps3vram. If you're having specific problems, please reproduce with ps3-linux.git and post a dmesg here or on the cbe-oss-dev mailing list.

Thank you Jim for the reply, i thought the new kernel was needed because they blocked PS3VRAM.

I hope they release in the future a new version with compatibility, or a new ps3vram.
