How to succesfully Set up the pc-- ps2(usb) connection

Post by terrabeam »

I will finish soldering my playstation 2(mod chip) tommorrow, and I have the special USB cable and the naplink files.

The software I downloaded for naplink --that is naplink client and naplink ps2 do not however have elaborate readme's which explain how exactly the softaware is to be used.

I have installed and run naplink client on my pc but I do not know how to run the ps2 naplink program on the ps2.

I am stuck at this point because there is no information on what to do once someone downloads these files.
The ps2dev site was of little help.
it's instructions were unclear especially in thir document"Getting Started with Naplink / PS2(Messiah mod-chip)" the part where it asked to build an iso9660 file then patch it and modify the system totally lost me.(my cwriter can only allow me to write a cd image file)

Please let me know what to do and what to expect and how exactly to run the elf files to see if the connection worked.

thanks in advance-I hope the responses here shall help all those with questions on this topic.

Once you've connected the USB cable between the PS2 and PC, you boot the Naplink PS2 CD. It'll check for the cable and then check to see if the PC side is responding. If so, it'll wait for commands from the PC. If not, it'll sit there saying it's waiting for the PC side.

If you read through all the threads on the board about the Independence Day exploit, you can put the Naplink PS2 files onto a memory card. I've done that on mine. No, I won't tell you how. It's too much work. Go read the old threads on it.
