i open it up and type mkdir psphome and it says "mkdir command not found"
also when i go into c:\cygwin\ there is not home directory with a bash profile or anything. can anyone give me the headsup on what i did wrong?

hmm, bit weird, usually after install and run for first time it generates a bash folder. did you also make sure you choose unix style, not dos style?
