PS2 Debug TEST Offer

Post by arnoldjc »

I am selling one of my Ps2 Debug TEST units. It has a network adapter and HD.

Thought one of you guys might find it useful for dev'ing. Offers welcome by emailing me at [email protected]. I'm also free to give any help to PS2 dev newbies.

Thanks guys.

is there anything you can do with a "TEST" ps2 that you cant do with a regular ps2 fitted with a modchip?

Nope. And the laser-pickups in the test-stations tend to suck. Perhaps they put all the ones that get rejected for proper manufacturing into the test-stations. :)

I've seen a TEST that had a modification to make it behave like a TOOL for direct devlopment over a network cable/usb (uploading the program and debugging over the wire). I'm sure it has extra debug capabilities but I couldn't confirm that. It's just cool with TEST written on the top ;) hehe

All I can be sure of is that it is multi-region, has no protection and so plays correctly burned ps2 cd-r/dvd-r disks with your homebrew on without any modification. This one comes with the HD and network adapter. I'm sure there are some extra things in there, I was once told by a developer. Hmm..maybe someone reading knows.

Suppose it's just open to offer if anyone had a use for it or a developer wantred one on the cheap becuase mod chips weren't an option.

Thanks for looking either way guys :)

That is done using special software supplied with the official SDK, and has nothing to do with the hardware. It's just a PS2 with no region checking, used to test games before you submit them to Sony (hence "TEST" station).

Isn't the TEST unit that thing with 128 MB main memory or does only the TOOL have 128? If that's the case I could find it usefull ;). But unfortunately I dont have any money atm.

Nah, this was done with a modchip style thing that went into the TEST that could be flashed like the TOOL. No worries though.

It's just a TEST whatever use a TEST is to someone :)
