Work In Progress: RPG

Post by Mmy »

As my first try at LUA programming, and alsp psp LUA, I decided to start this project.

psPWND RPG:

Current version: test.1

Features: Pretty white text. Single attack pattern. No magic(whoo!). No items. No Graphics.

Future features: Anything with a no from up there ^.

Details:
Currently this is just a simple math program.
All stats for both the "enemy" and "player" are random 15-25.
Attack order is dependant upon the AGI stat, set as eagi and pagi.
Displays a text either "Enemy's first attack!" or "First attack!" then calls the appropriate attack script
Damage is calculated as:
Damage is being recoded.
It displays the ammount of damage done and then the defenders remaining hp out of 100.

I myself am working on the base code for the battle system.

Requesting:
Writer: Storyline construction.
Artist: Character sprites / Backgrounds / Enviroments
Coder (animation/movement): Codes the animation
Sound/BGM: Collects/Creats BGM and Sound Effects

Download:
Temp. down due to unfinished codeing.
Ad Naseum: Please give any suggestions, meaning I would rather you not tell me i should be doing it on my own. I'm fairly open minded and will be glad to hear from you guys.

most ppl are coding their own games alone afaik

do you plann a huge game? cause most games are "small" and do not need more than one to write em...
as i do all the stuff for my game (could split that too, but would create more work than doing it on your own... and shortens the credits *lol*)

First off what the hell does "afaik "

Also, perhaps im not adept in those things, and would rather have someone who is work with me on it, so I can produce a higher quality product.

I'm sorry im not the one man powerhouse that you are. You're soooooo lucky to be able to do what you do....[/sarcasm]

I want to make a game with enough substance and visual happiness that people will want to play it, not some thrown together piece of junk because i cant do things others can.

And whoopty do on having another 3-4 names in the credits....

afaik means: as far as i know
you are getting pissed quite fast.
more ppl working on one thing does not always mean that it increases quality (see tomb raider, the last released part)
sarcasm is on the wrong place cause noone said that he/she is perfect or can write "heaevn on earth"
some thropn toger piece of junk <-- so the games released yet by ONE ppl are junk? u'r getting nicer and nicer...

The afaik, thanks for clearing that up.

This is true, but not my situation

That sarcasm, was directed at you bud, you said so you're self you do it all alone.

In reference to my quote of:
not some thrown together piece of junk because i cant do things others can.
See the letter I, i used it so that you could understand that I am saying that if I worked on it alone, it wouldnt be good. That simple.

hehe i did get that (that the sarcasm was pointed to me...)

to get something constructive to post:

it might be helpful to get something like an interface, for cooperation

define input/ouputs before you start, otherwise it will (mostly) end in a mess
(i know cause i was working together with some ppl, that were not able to finish work without wirtten definitions...)

i do not even think that you are not good enough to do it alone (guess everybody comes to a part where he does not come further)
we will help everybody to bypass problems.

if you have a exact definition what you need (code) i may help you out (when i got time again)

currently i could give you some code for nick-input or credits (flying credits-wave)

greets
Lumo

A team project might be a good idea. I am thinking of creating a good game (more likely, a puzzle.) But the problem is that:

* I cannot do the art because I am not an artist.

* I cannot do the sound because I am deaf.

Only thing I can do is creative designing and effective coding with over 40 years of experience.

Look at those "forge" webpages such as sourceforge.net and luaforge.net.

Shine is not alone with his project.

May I ask you folks to encourage team projects?

Thank you.

Hmm... I would think that most ppl here would like help with gfx and sound.

Maybe there's other boards that are better for requesting help with gfx and sound? I think most of the ppl here are coders.

Hmm... perhaps we ought to start a large project such as RPG at one of those "forge" webpages. Or, we could make our own "forge" webpage? Or,similar one like http://www.codersworkshop.com/ where Gfx and sound guys are networking with coders. I seem to like the latter.

What ye, folks, thnks?

PS Mine has only 20 MB web space. Also, I am not a web developer if you ask me.

If you want to make an RPG rules engine, it could be quite nice to base it to fuzion rules system.

You can have look at ww.fuzion.org and donwload freely this RPG.
