Action Replay Max Evo - MC -USB stick - copy "Unknown e

I have tried to copy with Action Replay Max Evo the game saves from my 8MB MC to STF USB/flash memory stick/key (128 MB) but I have received an error message „Unknown error”.
Do some one have any clue how to solve the problem?
Do I need to format the USB stick (FAT or FAT32)?
With which format tool should I format it?
Must the USB stick be empty (without PC data/files/folders)?
