24-bit textures

I was wondering if there's a way to use a 24-bit RGB image, NOT a 32-bit RGBA one as a texture in the PSP or do I really have to convert it to 32-bit (or 16) before using?

Thanks.
Let's see what the PSP reserves... well, I'd say anything is better than Palm OS.
