Hi Guys,
I just got my first "Hello World" running on the PSP through the Popstation emu.
Firstly, I don't even know if this will run on official firmware, but suspect it would if everyone's PSX backups do.
Secondly, I would like to know what version Playstation the PSP tries to emulate,
or more specific.. what BIOS image is is based on?
Also, if anyone has links, etc to further reading material pertaining to the topic,
I'd like to read up :)
There have been problems if I ever have to access the CD drive to load
programs from a menu, etc. I'm interested in how it is handled in emulation.
Cheers, Art.

If not actually, then potentially.
I remember that in old 3.02/3.03 times we extracted the bios from pops.prx and compared it against lots of psx bioses, and no match found, it seems like
if a new psx bios would have been coded just for the emulator, and probably has been changing between versions.
Anyways, try always to load your code in different versions, as you never know if a specific version has broken something and is not your fault, after all, it is an emulator.

Just still wonder if the hack to run PSX ISOs was in the EBOOT, or in
custom firmware as well (to get the PSP to run them).
The CDROM driver is another issue.
Nice to think a brew could be run on PSP, and then a real PSX through the TV.

I've been wondering recently how they managed to produce a full speed PSOne emulator for the PSP. I found an early thread on this forum discussing the many pitfalls and issues to create such a thing (and PacMan's PSOne emulator). There was talk of running the native PSOne code directly against the Allegrex due to the MIPS family backward compatibility. Last thing I saw was that this was an issue when certain areas of memory were accessed (and some solutions for translations were presented).
So, did it ever come out how Sony managed to pull it off? I wonder if watching how the data is read from the ISO and executed would give some insight. I'll put it in my book due out in the fall =P
