Microphone port usage

Hey everyone. I am wondering, how can I use the microphone port in my homebrew program? I know how to check to see if its pluggin, but how can I get sound that come through the mic and send to what ever?

Here's a example someone wrote some time back that shows how to input audio on the PSP.
