I'm pretty sure DAX is working/already has 5.00M33 running without a custom IPL, using undisclosed kernel/user exploits.

Yeah, it's not so much has it been hacked as much as has the hack been released.

Seriously... all this "Sony will sell more..." stuff by homebrew is shit...
Even though the homebrew community to which we belong is big, the normal playerbase is even bigger...

We are like a corn of sand on a beach... it's not like sales will skyrocket because the brite model gets a custom firmware.

Non the less I would think about getting one myself if it was. Just out of development reasons though...

I kinda missed the slim&lite train... and the extra 32mb ram catch my interest...

Yeah Sony doesn't make any more money from us, we all play the same games.

They believe (which is most probably true) that most people who use homebrew on the PSP, is pirating their own or someone elses software.

Still I believe Apple have got it right with the App Store, which means Homebrew can be released for $99 (which isn't really that much to dev), people can make really cool games (which they have) and make a lot of money off them.

Sony need something like the App Store, PSN is just too confusing and is way too expensive to develop for.

Anyway, I immediately fell in love with my White Slim when I picked it up. Its the right weight and size for me :) I don't want to Upgrade to something which really isn't going to be any better. (i'd never use the Mic or the screen functions)

I say people relax, it takes a long time for these hacks to be released and I think its a matter of time (perhaps for the next major firmware) that these hacks are released.

Oh I would be kinda interested in the mic thing... Skyping with my girl would be so much more comfortable when just resting in bed having the PSP next to ya instead of a notebook.

Well, you can always get the Go Cam anyway.

The Mic on that works quite well.

Amen to that.
Sony's business model for the PSP is 15years behind.
If I didn't hate Apple and the iPhone so much, I would probably be developing for it now

Apple sucks. Had two iPod nanos from them, both broke within a year. They didn't feel like replacing them either.

So fuck you Apple, fuck you.

That aside. I've got a PSP R1000 model, thus no Skype for me. Even if I had the Webcam.

I'm not going to feed you Anti Apple trolls :P

but anyway, they should have replaced the iPods if they broke within your year warranty. If you went to a reseller, I do suggest going to the Apple Store with the two iPods. Explaining to them very clearly and honestly about what happened at the genius bar.

You could end up walking out with two brand new iPods.

There's a general rule when it comes to buying electronics, never buy the first revision.

Well the Phats are pretty robust and I must admit Sony do a good job with the first revisions.. Must be why they are so expensive :P

@Coldbird: Not sure what your problem with Apple was. Apple is generally really good with their warranty support. It's one of the pluses I've always liked. As with everything, there are exceptions, and maybe you happened to get one of them (the person you dealt with). Go online to find ALL the Apple representatives in your area and consult someone other than whomever you dealt with the first time.

@J.F. - No use now. The warranty ran out a few months back.

About PSP First Revision, got two of them. (Don't ask...) And I'm pretty happy with them. I've never seen much of a reason to get a slime or a brite model besides the 64MB ram.

Just because the warranty ran out a few months ago, doesn't mean you can't try to get replacement iPods.

Apple are good like that, I really do suggest going to an Apple Store instead of a Reseller, you will get two new iPods if you explain everything well enough.

You tried within the warranty period and they shoved you away..

What's wrong with them anyway?

That's pretty much why I hate Apple. That and the outrageous sum they want for their - in comparison - really shitty products.

I'm fine now anyway though. I moved on to the Sansa Fuze and live a happy life with a good DAP that features 12GB space. I really can't complain.

Anyway let's stop this here. We are getting off topic.

About a brite-custom-firmware. I'm not too sure what's the big problem with the new hardware, I didn't check up on it though, so it's no wonder.

Someone of you guys know?

Oh crap - that I get for trying to be quick with quoting, I quoted the wrong line. Should have been the one with the warranty, but oh well.

They both had a damage with the power connector it seems. They worked fine but didn't recharge anymore...

So yeah... once the battery was out of power - that was it.
