How to render the XMB wave in your own app?

Post by Torch »

If you've noticed, the Sony firmware updater's display the XMB wave in the bakground.

It reads the 01-12.bmp from flash0: so if you have a custom theme, then the custom background will be displayed in the updater. But it uses its own stored copy of the wave texture, because it will display the original wave, not a custom one.

Now have they recoded the entire wave rendering effect into the updater, or is there a way to "import" the existing wave rendering effect from the firmware?

If its not possible for a regular application launched in GAME mode, how about for an application which replaces vshmain.prx. A replacement vshmain.prx should be in VSH mode and *might* prove to be easier to accomplish this for whatever reason.
